The His Majesty's Correctional Services(HMCS) Training College has a long-standing legacy of professional development within Eswatini's security sector. Established in 1965 as the Prison College, its initial mandate was to equip correctional officers with basic custodial and penal management skills to ensure safe custody of prisoners. Over time, the institution evolved in line with global shifts in penology, transitioning from a punitive custodial philosophy to a modern rehabilitative approach.
The College now functions as the premier centre for human capital development within HMCS, transforming recruits into disciplined, professional, and versatile correctional officers. Its history is intertwined with reforms in the penal system, expanding from basic officer training to include in-service development, leadership preparation, and offender education. Operating from Matsapha Correctional Centre, the College has become a national hub for correctional training, vocational development, rehabilitation programming, and leadership development
